Setting Goals and How to Actually Accomplish Them

We are 3 months into the New Year and let’s be honest, have you really been sticking to your New Year’s Resolution? A lot of the times, we set goals, never stick to them or fall off, ESPECIALLY with our New year’s resolution.

But let’s get back on track. Here is a 6 step plan on how to set goals and actually stick to them!

STEP 1: SET YOUR GOAL

6

Before we do anything, we need to determine what our goals are. This is probably the simplest part. Ask yourself; “what do I want to achieve?”

Knowing that, break down your  big goal down into smaller goals. Breaking up your big goal into smaller milestones is essentially making a plan on how to ACTUALLY achieve that big goal and stay on track.

STEP 2: TAKE ACTION

Setting goals is not the most difficult part. We often know what we want to achieve, but when it comes to taking the necessary actions to hit your goal, is when a lot of people fall off. In order to make your dreams into reality, you have to take consistent action every single day to get there. Consistency and showing up every single day, even when you don’t feel like it is key!

STEP 3: REEVALUATE

8

If you have your goal set and are taking consistent action, but not seeing results. Reevaluate what you’re doing. Look at your tactics, look at your game plan, analyze your strategies. Do not just keep doing the same thing over and over again without seeing results. Give yourself some gut checks, be honest with yourself and change the way you are doing things if they haven’t been working. Review, retarget and fix your mistakes

STEP 4: ASK FOR ADVICE

If you personally cannot find what is not working, ask for advice. A fresh pair of eyes and opinions can be super beneficial to you and hitting your goals. Someone who you respect can give you great advice on how to achieve your goals, what you could be doing better ,etc. You can also learn so much from other successful people. For example, if your goal is to lose 10 pounds, find someone who has done that and learn from them. What did they do, what worked for them

STEP 5: BUILD UPON YOUR STRENGTHS

For this step, build upon your strengths. Find out what your good at, what your thrive in and build upon that. It is so important to know what you’re good at and completely focus on that!

STEP 6: DON’T GIVE UP

5

This is the most important step. Whatever obstacles you encounter, do not give up. When things get the hardest, and you feel like you want to give up, is probably when your the closest to a breakthrough. Keep going, never give up.
